Half Term

Haven't accomplished an awful lot this week...had a walk, been to mother's...fixed her washing basket!

Spent yesterday as a couch potato, watched LOADS of catch-up tv!!  Was quietly harking back to the days when we got our first video recorder whilst at RAF Laarbruch...Something like this !!
Seem to recall one neighbours little girl giving their's a drink (the tape bit popped up) because they thought it was thirsty!!

Anyway, as I've just tweeted....

@lendal: #plans 1) walk to shake off yesterday's curry...2) eggie brekkie...3) it's a football day :)) WFC V NCfC COYH's

Christmas is coming....

Here we are, life is moving on:). A weekend away, Rainworth. It has become our annual pre Christmas trip, to see Suzie's Auntie Joyce, a very spiritedly near 90 young person !!

I had two options, go shopping, or, go to Mansfield and watch footie - oh hum....hard decision :)) So here I am sat in a trendy coffee bar ( The Green Bottle) with a rather nice Americano listening to a background musac of a rebellious flavour watching the world go by in the afternoon sunshine. It's a hard life, but some one has to do it !

This place is run/staffed by some very energetic young ( and youngish) ladies...feel knackered watching them!

Off to see 'The Stags', as Mansfield is known as, next...might just be a pub on the way though:)

Last Away Day ..,,

This place is rather good for an ale (or 2 )

Saw some strange animals...

We were the last league visitors to watch from the terracing - shame in the FA....

And how we were not 5 goals to the good only their goalie & Troy knows !!!

Catch up time…..

Last day of term on Friday.  We’re (staff) in the pub, parents are in the park…and this happens…  Thinking of all the children & adults involved, especially the Martin family.

On a happier note – went to watch AFC Wimbledon v Watford pre season game on Saturday – a cracking peter day out.  A couple of ales there, then train back to Waterloo and a wander to Liverpool St via a lovely quiet City…

Good Morning World....

It must be Spring....getting the feel to write again:)

So...how are 'things' in the Fazey-Wood household? Okay as it happens!

These wonderful people
http://www.apgreenbuildersltd.co.uk/ have begun the process of sorting out our damp problem so we can redecorate our nest and make it all cosy for the autumn...

Holidays...Well we're off to our now traditional Easter weekend stay at Westfleet this coming Thursday - keeping an eye on the weather forecast.

Come the summer it's going to be less exotic this year - 10 days in Cornwall BUT for our 2nd anniversary weekend we're off t Paris!!

Then at Christmas we're taking a cottage on Portland so we can have a Christmas with the kids & grand kids...

Sport wise...time to update this entry

Watford...struggling :( Off to see them this afternoon play Middlesborough - we need to win.

Hertford Town...struggling :( They're playing Langford today.

Waikato - did ok in the New Zealand Cup, looking forward to it again this summer.

The Chiefs...won their first three away games in Super 14...then lost the next three!!

Ah well - that's sport.

We're going for a walk tomorrow...going to pick one of these:-

I Was There When Doyley Scored...

This won't mean a thing to most people in the world, but Watford has this player called Lloyd Doyley. He's been with us from the age or 11, plays as a full back and has ALWAYS given his all - mainly on the right where, in all honesty he was given to starting a season being outstanding, then tailing off and losing his place - but since the Malky revolution, he has been proving himself to be a pretty good left back.

Anyway - in all his games, as a youth right through 268 first team games, he's NEVER scored a goal...until Monday!!

This video will give you a glimpse of how we felt....

It's back....

FOOTBALL that is....!!
First day of the new season for the Golden Boys...
Here's a great rallying call for all us fans...

Our Watford

The dawn of a new season and probably a make or break one for our beloved Watford.

Those lucky enough to be the present incumbents of the board have a responsibilty to represent and uphold the values of our club and to lead us through these troubled times with integrity and wisdom. The assets of the club have long been stripped by others; barely nothing remains and we must trust that all the vultures have indeed flown the nest. The road back to prosperity is a long one and a single wrong turn could be catastrophic. Surely then only brave men would invest where financial gain seems the motive?

Those pulling on the yellow shirt and representing the club at all levels are privileged to do so. Many less talented amongst us would consider it an honour to be in their position even for barely a minute. Their youth musn't excuse them from understanding the seriousness of this moment at this pivotal time in the club's hisory. Their's is a responsibility to perform always to the best of their ability, for the betterment of the team over themselves.

Our manager is untried but trusted. Let his wisdom guide the team through the season, let his strengths overcome all obstacles. Let his pride, resilience and winning mentality spread throughout his players.

And us, the fans? We may not hold the power, the footballing skill or the managerial influence but our gift is an undying love and passion for our club. We will pass it down from generation to generation and it will forever bind us all, as one family, whoever or wherever we may be. Our love will never give up and our faith, hope and patience will never fail.

C'mon you golden boys.

My World...

As my world tends to be focused on football (soccer for you colonials), here's a few pics from that area of my life...
These were taken at The Vic prior to our 2-1 win against Norwich...
No, your're not seeing double..there are TWO sets of goals, use second for warming up the goalies...

This pic (and far better than mine!!) is by DAN the photo man at Hertford Town...it was a soggy afternoon this Saturday..and we won 3-0

It's Friday....

Friday Fill-In 98!!

1. Please feel free to smile!!

2. When I hold snow, I can't help sniffing it occasionally.

3. My favorite thing to cook is venison - with a dark cherry sauce.

4. (No surprise...) Football (soccer) is something I can't get enough of.

5. That's the thing I love most about Watford Football Club - the uncertainty.

6. Sunday mornings always makes me think to myself, what the heck?

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to chillin', tomorrow my plans include the launderette (washing machine has died), then over to Holmer Green with Hertford Town and Sunday, I want to get a new washer!

LIfe, football and all of that.

So, how have my chosen teams been getting on in my absence from these boards?  Those who have followed these ramblings (HELLO DEBS!!) will possibly know I follow these teams through either a lifetime of struggle, having lived there or some other tenuous link ...

Watford FC.  We're doing ok...19th in The
Championship BUT the football is much more fun than last years dross. A club I've supported from
childhood.
(Recall supporting Leeds Utd for some reason (probably the Yorkshire link and the fact that my
cousin Christine's other half followed them)).

We moved from Eaglescliff when I was a 5 something and I grew up in Chesham, a few miles from the ground. My best mates brother was  fan and led me down the demon path when WFC were a spot in the lower leagues.  Find their history here.

Moved here just over three years ago to be with Suzie :) Decided
to watch the local non-league team when I could and have gradually become more involved!! Going to watch them today over at Watford (Oxhey Jets) with our new manger - Ossie Ardilles' son

Then there's this lot -  The Mooloo's !!!  Otherwise known as Waikato Rugby Club in Hamilton New Zealand.
Now, when we were planning  trip last year I look
ed up which club was closest to Tauranga, and it was The Steamers. BUT when I was unpacking at Jack and Denice's paradise, they noticed my Watford scarf and suggested that I had come pre-pared!! Just look at the colours and you'll see why... So now I'm  fully committed Mooloo supporter ( they lost their last game of the season last week to Hawks Bay in the Air New Zealand Cup).

By proxy, I'm also a follower of this lot as well - the regional kiwi team that plays in the Super 14 cup... Go Chiefs!!

That just leaves Yorkshire Cricket Club, England in all sports, Andy Murray and school!!
