Been away from here again...

I used to enjoy my blog posts...

Looking back it was a form of boring the guys in The Naafi orThe  Malcolm Club ( long gone institutions), sharing without the need to actually chat in person to somebody!! Then your mates just looked at you and said 'aye', on here anybody who could be arsed just scroll past the crap and look at the pics!!

Pretty same on Facebook, which has taken over from this little blog...( here FACEBOOK ) πŸ˜€

I pretty religiously put up logs of my walking, follow loads of strange people in wierd and wonderful groups, such as lost shopping trolleys, The Dull Club, Steps we love, park benches, weather around the world right now...football obviously! Pared down the crap over the years, it works for me..

Then there's Twitter! Been a trifle stressed time on there!!

Politically I'm disctinctly Centre Left, and right now its hard to really come out and say "I'll Vote For Him/Her"..but that's bye the bye, Twitter has gone from a fairly relaxed chatty newsy place to a something resembling The Spanish Inquisition, complete with Heritcal Burnings!!  Again, I've just spent time paring down who, and what I follow...There seems to be none of that middle ground, eg if you have a tendancy to Boris, you must be a raving Trumpite as well, and if you think Biden is right, you're a raving Corbynista, of which I'm neither...I suppose being of the Harold Wilson, Jim Callaghan generation of Labour, well, bring their kind back.

I do find it hard to socialise.

In The RAF it was easy, walk into a Naafi anywhere in the world and you already had a connection, something to chat about, a commonality of cause, be you an airframe fitter or (as I was) a "blanket stacker"...logistics, supply etc... Now, Ive been here for heading towards 20 years(!!!) and I see people I know, but with a couple of exceptions, still haven't a clue as to their job, profession, history etc...in our local Club, there's always the same group in there when I go in, who've been that same group long before me and know each other intimately, I'm always the outsider, and I admit I sit by myself and tend to only add the occasional comment to the conversations - often because its a very parochial and insular conversation !!  Right now Social Distancing suits me!!

The other half of this blog, Suzie, has had a much harder time of it than me. Made redundant just before lockdown, actually on her way to an interview when they pulled the plug as such. A couple of interviews since, always pleasant reviews, but no job. Now no dole, only available for 6 months, so we are relying on my pensions...which I spend at a rapid rate.πŸ˜“.

We've spent more time enclosed together in our little nest than ever - I resented the intrusion for a while - missed my solitary life of seeing Suzie off to work, breakfast, walk, or domestics, or visit Mother, then home after a pint at the above club, sit in big chair, sport on TV nap, prepare evening tea, welcome home the worker...bed!! But we've worked it out - I get up early, she gets up late  :)

Mother has spent nigh on 2/3rds of a year stuck in her little flat, no social life at all - at least we've been out shopping, holiday in Norfolk, gone to pubs etc..she's had nowt, with the odd exception of me twice a week, a visit from Janice for a week or so, odd phone cll from Grandchildren and her friends, who have been the worst at this!!

A rare lunch out...keeping her safe

So, as this second lockdown comes to an end, a vaccine is in sight, what of our future?

Me...going to walk from Westminster to Tower Hill eating and drinking it all back in again...Pepys, Boswell & Johnson, Shardlake...πŸš‚πŸΊπŸ±

Suzie, dancing. Lots and lots and lots of dancing!!πŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒ

Mother, tea, sandwiches and bingo with her friends, before its too late.  She's 93 next moth.

Hightlight of past 8 months...Suzie's birthday feast :)

Christmas is coming....

Here we are, life is moving on:). A weekend away, Rainworth. It has become our annual pre Christmas trip, to see Suzie's Auntie Joyce, a very spiritedly near 90 young person !!

I had two options, go shopping, or, go to Mansfield and watch footie - oh hum....hard decision :)) So here I am sat in a trendy coffee bar ( The Green Bottle) with a rather nice Americano listening to a background musac of a rebellious flavour watching the world go by in the afternoon sunshine. It's a hard life, but some one has to do it !

This place is run/staffed by some very energetic young ( and youngish) ladies...feel knackered watching them!

Off to see 'The Stags', as Mansfield is known as, next...might just be a pub on the way though:)

Time for an update...

Sat here in Eastbourne in the sun, having a coffee, next to the English Channel, with a whitewashed pier in front of me...having just demolished a fairly sizeable Full English Breakfast and thought this would be a good time to update the world on the world of Fazey-Wood.

We've had a grand couple of days here, best part being no one else around! Yesterday it was damp, squally but distinctly not miserable.

Had a great wander down the front...
A wet esplanade :))
And along a wet, empty, very atmospheric pier...

Don't Jump....said the sign!
Italian for supper after an afternoon of drinking and reading and chilling :))

Avocado & prawn salad
Calzone
Scrumptious being the word of choice...

Next move, after Suzie has finished her mooching around the charity shops, is to have a gander at Beachy Head, then home via Mother's.

It is a bit nice here though, can see why people come back...

#getfitordie cont...

Siobhan at work is running the London Marathon today - best of luck, it hurts me doing my little bit around Bengeo :((

Talked to me about joining a club for motivation - or looking for a local 5k run to aim for - tried that last year and was bitterly disappointed when it didn't come to fruition. So, just going to continue to take small steps..get below 30 mins for my little routeb - then extend the run to follow another path around a quarry...

Today's was good - once I manage to go more than 50 steps without stopping to breath it'll be better !!

The field looks lush ....just my colour :))

Saturday morning...

So, what to do on a Saturday morning...? Suzie is catching up on Frost whilst having a lie in...

Me - up to watch F1 qualifying & then out for another run (walk - breathe)run...

It's a lovely spring day out there - nice enough to hopefully take Suzie's mind off the fact the only job she's been offered has been offered at the wage of an office junior straight from school with no training AND just for three months...firm appears to be wanting the experience but trying to get away with not paying for it...Suzie not the first one they've offered it to!!

Rape seed growing rapidly...

Must get hay fever tablets today...

Oh & speed wise - slowly getting towards last years pace!

Running (walking)running(walking)...again :)

WOW...just been for my first run since late July '11 !!

Returned alive, hot, itchy - last years corn is now this hay fever inducing crop :-

So it's chemists next !!

Really quite surprised at my time around my little course - not too distant from last year and recovering well... and I can still breath !!

OUCH !!!

It's last day of school hols here - back to work tomorrow, which will be a relief after the past three weeks!!

We packed up at Hinderwell on the Saturday morning & my arm ached - by the time we collected mother from Cousin Jen's it hurt....and, having decided to come back via Scarborough and the coast road, it was absolute AGONY by the time we travelled there.  Couldn't turn, had to hold my left arm behind my head all the time - nothing touched - heat pads, co-codimal - ibuprofen...Suzie drove  - we abandoned mother, came home and I reckon I spent the best part of two and a half weeks on the bed (with the exception of visiting Dr's &  Oesteopath - Paul - HIGHLY RECOMEND HIM )...

Right now on stronger pain killers, ice packs and shiraz :)

We did have a good time though....next hols will be Easter at Westfleet :)

Catch up time…..

Last day of term on Friday.  We’re (staff) in the pub, parents are in the park…and this happens…  Thinking of all the children & adults involved, especially the Martin family.

On a happier note – went to watch AFC Wimbledon v Watford pre season game on Saturday – a cracking peter day out.  A couple of ales there, then train back to Waterloo and a wander to Liverpool St via a lovely quiet City…

Day of hospitals & Doctors & laziness...

Up and about early today - appointment at 'The Rivers' hospital in Sawbridgeworth...a private establishment & one can see why people with dosh use them (good old NHS paying for me...). Lovely green driveway complete with a BEAUTY of a green woodpecker watching me as I arrived...appointment at 8.15 ... only me there - no lights, dr, nurse, other worried patients...peace:). Anyway examined, in places I don't wish to talk about & going back Friday for ultrasound & Monday for consultant again... Right now (7.45 pm) I'm at the doctors waiting for the results of my wee, x-ray & blood tests from 2 weeks ago - stand by to get told off for cholesterol at the very least :)

Breath...Relax....Ahhhh...

Sat in pub with my NEW netbook (and I'm chuffed to bits with it...)

watching the world go by - by a bus station - in Stevenage - atmosphere... zero...cider 10/10.

It's half term, and in the depths of my dark and depressed winter of discontent ( at myself more than with the world at large) I thought that this would probably be my last half term. Feel better now - BUT...

Anyway - it's a half term offering hospitals, doctors, mother and grandchildren, coffee, wine, ale..and hopefully a job for Suzie :)

#getfitordie cont....

Phew - two days on the trot !! Feeling completely knackered right now...in a good way.

Mind you, yesterday's fish'n chips and lovely bottle of Italian red wasn't exactly part of the new regime :)

Nearly made it under 30 min :)

Lovely morning though.
