We (well I to be honest) had decided that we would experience Whitby through a day of cups of tea, chips, walking, beer & ice-cream…although the last is yet to happen!!

Parked up by the Abbey and wandered down across the bridge, mooching at the shops (charity of courseSmile) then down to the West Beach…where Suzie played Queen Canute…

Unfortunately – The North Sea was having none of that nonsense and GOT US…

Holidays - Whitby August 2011 :)

Sunday 7th.

Suzie asked me last night if I was happy – my answer was simple – We’re in Whitby, We have fresh local kippers for breakfast and our view is the North York Moors…Happy – I should coco Smile

We abandoned Chesham around 6:30 ish, had a great run right up till we hit York and stopped… as you expect on a holiday weekend, but arrived at Serenity Camping and Touring Site around 12:30 ish. It’s called serenity because that’s what they aim for…here’s our tent…

just to try out the ale you understand!!

This place has context with my dad – one of his youthful fishing haunts.

In fact all around us is littered with places that touch upon my dad and his life with his family growing up; mother’s and him starting out as a courting couple and then married  life …

Walked around Hinderwell (where we are…) last night..

What an atmospheric church yard….

Dreams changed…

Stopped for a beer (Doombar – yum) and a coffee (in todays modern age of bean to cup machines a pretty naff brew from a pre-loaded contraption) at a place I’ve bee past THOUSANDS of times over the years – The Fox and Goose pub near Salisbury.

Opposite is a a converted mill and barn that I would love to live in – always said ‘That’s Mine’ – HOWEVER…sitting here opposite all I can hear is traffic…zoom…zoom…broom…changing my mind rapidly Sad smile
