St Pauls & Boswell...

Just been re-reading some of my rambling on here - came across this one http://lendal.blogspot.co.uk/2006/10/plans-plans-plans.html
particulary the bits about James Boswell.  Went for another wander on Thursday & in The National Portrait Gallerey found the man himself...

Looked deep in his eyes and told him I KNOW him now - I'm up to 1778-1782, when his father dies & he becomes the Laird of Auchinlek...he really was a bastard to his wife and kids (not in a harsh brutal way - just lack of contact)...prostitutes... alcoholism...a father who patently is more than dissatisfied with his offspring...BUT he does recognise this...to quote
"It is unpleasing to observe how imperfect a picture of my life this journal presents. Yet I have certainly much more of myself  thus preserved than most people have."

64 Days..not that Suzie's counting...

Seem to have lost the habit of posting regularly - too much other 'stuff' going on, mainly the usual football message board surfing and general browsing.  Haven't even been reading or fishing lately so not much to catch up with either.!!

A quick recap of our life recently then....

Went here and lost (that's not true - I didn't even get the chance to feel the fish on the line I cocked it up so much) my biggest ever fish...

Went to Hertford last weekend and watched this game with Stephen R, then a chilled evening watching England in the pub and a curry afterwards.

Thursday Suzie took me to Castle Hall to watch 'Kiss Me Kate' by our local amdram HD & OS - good fun.

SO, now I'm back, let's get posting.....

Dylan....

getting older ..sat watching BBC 4 showing Dylan at Newport .. how could those philistines boo him????

I was only, what 9? but i can remember the furore about this icon picking up an electric guitar...hope all those are sat in their warden homes thinking how.....

The Beeb is looking at 1968 - the year of musical, and racial, freedom movements - cream, and Dylan.

Suzie's half a decade younger than me - and he is not part of her generation, unless you were introduced by somebody...his music has been part of my life, especially since voodoo child..connection 'All Along the Watchtower'...

1972 - left home, lived in a barrack block full of tubular bells fans, Slade and all the other 'glam rock' If you want a taste of the music - try here...http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/ilove/years/1973/jukebox/index.shtml

Anyway - the amazing meal..venison stew (onions, carrot's, rosemary, red wine and stock, served over taglietelle) yummy..
